Scripture:
"The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit." – Proverbs 18:21 (NIV)
Devotional Thought:
Our words carry incredible power. Proverbs 18:21 tells us that the tongue has the power of life and death. What we speak over ourselves, our situations, and others can either build up or tear down. Too often, we underestimate the influence of our words, speaking carelessly or allowing negativity to dominate our conversations.
When we speak words of faith, hope, and encouragement, we plant seeds of life in ourselves and in others. On the other hand, negative or harmful words can drain the energy, faith, and joy from a situation. God calls us to use our words wisely, not only to communicate but to speak life, truth, and hope into every area of our lives.
Today, consider how you can use your words to speak life into the challenges or situations you’re facing. Ask God to help you speak with kindness, wisdom, and faith, knowing that your words have the power to bring positive change.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the gift of speech. Help me to be mindful of the words I speak today. Let my words reflect Your love and truth, bringing life and encouragement to others. Guide me to speak words of faith, hope, and wisdom, trusting in the power You've given me to impact my world. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Action Step:
Take a moment to reflect on the words you've been speaking lately. Are they life-giving or negative? Challenge yourself today to intentionally speak words of encouragement and hope in your conversations and prayers.
